cognac country
In 1791 young Thomas HINE left his home in Dorset, England to seek his fortune in France.
He chose the cognac country, perhaps because his family, living on the coast,
had engaged in the common practice of smuggling cognac.
HINE also forms part of the small circle of Houses who select their cognacs. Exclusively
from the two well-known crus of the cognac country.
These, the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne, lie at the very heart of the cognac
country, and produce cognacs that are especially suitable for long ageing.
HINE has chosen not to produce any VS quality and to produce only cognacs of VSOP quality
and above.
